Hockey Academy
The Hockey Academy is the platform for all trainers and coaches and is responsible for training, guiding and managing the hockey technical staff of HCY.
HCY wants to train as many of its own trainers as possible and use them as trainers or coaches. Senior teams are given priority as coaches and/or training of youth players. If a member shows talent for giving training, he/she is offered the opportunity to do the HT2 course, in which the member commits to giving training and/or coaching trainers for at least two years. When a parent develops into a good trainer, he/she is given the same opportunities.
Trainers are trained in a (mandatory!) train-the-trainer setting and theme evenings (HT1 is the basis). In addition, they are supervised by an experienced trainer, who coaches and guides them. At the start of the season, a mandatory trainer meeting takes place where the trainers are given tools to get started with, such as hockey practice. Regular consultations are held with the coaches of the teams they train to ensure that training and competition are in line with each other. Evenings are organised throughout the season where information is shared with the trainers that facilitates their task as trainer/supervisor.
